Tinhorn Creek Vineyards
Tinhorn Creek Vineyards Ltd. is a small but growing winery in British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley that was facing challenges in tracking and rewarding performance of employees. They did not have sufficient processes set up for managers to set performance standards and communication across departments was not effective. They contacted Clear HR Consulting to improve these processes to enable the winery to handle business growth and maturity.
“We didn’t have a formal performance review process, so reviews were being done on an ad hoc basis,” says Tinhorn Creek VP Finance & CFO Shaun Everest. “For instance, how do you justify salary increases and bonus decisions if you aren’t using a tool for measuring performance? We needed help.”
Clear HR Consulting carried out an HR Audit to determine Tinhorn Creek’s precise needs in terms of processes and templates. Follow-up included performance review training for the management team and a flexible roadmap of improvements categorized by priority to allow Tinhorn Creek to choose which options to deal with first.
